ADDICTION
Drugs and alcohol and other addictions are often used in an attempt to help us cope with difficult emotions. It is because of the way the brain responds to stimulants, that people can become addicted. Addictions create issues that often leave the drug user feeling trapped in a cycle of drug abuse, trying to quit and then relapsing.
According to the NHS, more of us are struggling with addiction. "In 07704429577 there was a 6% rise in hospital admissions with a diagnosis of drug-related mental health and behavioural disorders. This is 11% higher than 07704429577.”
Trying to manage addiction can be a nightmare, and is likely to affect all of the areas in your life, making it hard to keep work, relationships and mental/ physical health stable and healthy.
Drugs and alcohol work by triggering the brain’s natural reward system, releasing the feel-good hormone dopamine. This system controls the body’s ability to feel pleasure and so when it is triggered, it encourages you to trigger it again. Drugs and alcohol over stimulate the reward system making the user feel a “high” encouraging more use of the stimulant. Over time, the brain adjusts itself, and produces less dopamine and makes the cells in the reward system less responsive. This means the drug user won’t get the same effect unless they take more and more. The reduction in dopamine will make it difficult for the person to feel enjoyment without the addictive substance. Long term use can also lead to other changes in the brain such as memory loss, decision-making skills, judgement, learning ability and stress tolerance. Symptoms such as anxiety, paranoia, aggression and lack of energy are also commonly experienced.
Solution focused hypnotherapy will use clear explanations of why we create addictions, what happens in the brain when we do. This will help you to be able to intellectualise your addiction, and see it for what it is on a chemical level. Seeing behaviours from this angle helps to form an understanding that will explain how this addiction can be broken with ease. A gentle trance state will then encourage you to settle into a state of deep relaxation, where your unconscious is more open to suggestion enabling change to take place without agony.

Before I met Fleur I had crippling anxiety and did not believe in myself and my capabilities.
